Lori D. Coombs is the Founder and CEO of WWCM. Through her guidance and leadership, this small business delivers solutions to assist organizations deliver strategic and mission-critical capabilities intended for the exploitation of intelligence for the U.S. and its allies by hiring Consultants that work as either Full-Time Equivalents (FTEs), C2C, or 1099-Employees to provide services in S.T.E.A.M competencies.
Mrs. Coombs's career began on Capitol Hill working for U.S. Vice Presidential Candidate Joe Lieberman and CT state Senator Chris Dodd. She was appointed Female Delegate during the year Lieberman was running as the Democratic nominee in the 2000 U.S. presidential election, running with presidential nominee, and then Vice President, Al Gore.
Mrs. Coombs currently supports efforts at (NASA), Goddard Space Flight Center, managing the tasks of several Engineering teams for Earthdata Infrastructure and Earthdata Login missions. Mrs. Coombs gained experience moving data infrastructures into the Cloud through on-boarding initiatives with the Next Generation Application Platform (NGAP) Operations team. NGAP provides a cloud-based Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solution for Customer applications.
In addition to supporting partners at (NASA), Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), throughout her career she has gained experience supporting the Office of Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), the (DNI) - Open-Source Center, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), the Architect of the Capitol (AOC) and the U.S. Senate.
Prior to discovering IT, Mrs. Coombs worked in the finance and accounting, academic, as well as health and human services sectors. At the Food & Drug Admin (FDA), and the Bethesda Naval Medical Center, Mrs. Coombs acquired skills that later helped with global health research initiatives while working at the Fogarty International Center, National Institutes of Health (NIH). Mrs. Coombs also worked as a Financial Advisor and Securities Agent assisting families, small businesses, and professional athletes. Mrs. Coombs discovered IT while managing efforts for the PhD Program at Georgetown University in the Department of Economics.
Outside of work, Mrs. Coombs’s values to serve the community continue to impact how her career develops.
Helping Disabled Veterans drives her passion to support the DoD and intel community. Mrs. Coombs's father was a double-amputee due a service-connected condition who demonstrated to other disabled veterans how to walk with prosthetics. Mrs. Coombs and her father volunteered for years to assist disabled and homeless Veterans.
For over a decade, Mrs. Coombs has served as a Judge and Website Evaluator for "FIRST" Robotics Competitions assisting high school students with autonomous robots and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Mrs. Coombs also mentors STEM subjects for Girls in Technology (GIT).
Mrs. Coombs is currently pursuing a Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) in Cybersecurity at Marymount University and obtained a Master of Science (MS) in Systems Engineering from George Washington University in 2014.
In addition, Mrs. Coombs obtained a Master of Business Admin (MBA) in 2005, and a Bachelor of Science (BS) from Bowie State University in 1999. Mrs. Coombs serves as a mentor to students in her spare time and continues to innovate STEAM outreach efforts as Director of the WWCM Academy not-for-profit https://wwcmacademy.org
For over twenty years, Mrs. Coombs has worked on Capitol Hill and continues to serve in the capacity of being a state-of-the-art leader on, and in, mission critical Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber-Defense and Combative Systems, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C6ISR) programs.
